PENALTIES:
New Hampshire has three basic classifications of offenses, as follows:

VIOLATIONS are not crimes under New Hampshire law, but are punishable by a fine of up to $1,000.00.

MISDEMEANORS are criminal offenses and are separated into two sub categories:

  • Class B Misdemeanors are punishable by a fine of up to $1,200.
  • Class A Misdemeanors are punishable by a fine of up to $2,000.00 and/or a jail sentence of up to one year.

FELONIES are the most serious offenses under New Hampshire Law and are separated into two sub categories:

  • Class B Felonies are punishable by a fine of up to $4,000.00 and up to 3 years to 7 years at the New Hampshire State Prison.
  • Class A Felonies are punishable by a fine of up to $4,000.00 and up to 7 years to 15 years at the New Hampshire State Prison.
